Welcome to Advent and my GIVEAWAY!!!!!

So has everyone opened their Advent calendars today? We have 8 would you believe! The children have a lego one each, the 4 of us have a chocolate one...mine is Hello Kitty. We also have a wooden one where you decorate a scene each day and finally we have an Advent candle. Phew (we won't mention my Mr Men Advent calendar at work). We'll be at church in the morning for the lighting of the first advent candle.

So on to my my giveaway. I was going to show you the prize but I've decided to keep it a surprise. I will say it contains no less than 5 makes, a couple of bits I've picked up when I've been out and about, some festive stash and treats too.

So on to the rules:
You need to be a follower
Please leave me a comment with a telling me about a Christmas tradition in your house or something you like to so each year.

For me it's about certain gifts I give... everyone gets socks and and a chocolate orange (or in my mums case coffee creams)

On Christmas morning the kids come into our room sit on the bed and open their stockings, we go down have breakfast and then open some more presents. We then go to church and after that to my mums for MORE presents, a huge roast and a mountain of washing up!

I'll close the giveaway Friday 7th, so hopefully even if you are not in the UK it'll still get to you.

If that isn't enough festive cheer for you, Jo is hosting the advent blog hop. You can find all the details here and Steph at Show and Tell is also having a giveaway here.

Good Luck everyone!

  6. Hi Kerry! I would love to take part in your giveaway!

My favourite christmas tradition is a game of Whovilleopoly (think the Grinch) with my family with a glass of chocolate liqure and milk. After playing the game for hours we have our Christmas Ham at 12 midnight!!!! We've been doing this now for about 10 years and it's the one thing I look forward to most during the Christmas season.

Have a Merry Christmas! I don't feel guilty now saying that because it's finally DECEMBER!

  7. Count me in! Exciting :-) There's lots of traditions in our house... Christmas Eve was my Gran's birthday and although she's not here anymore, we still have a sherry for her! Despite the fact that me and my brother are grown up, we still put out a mince pie and (another) sherry for Father Christmas! Before bed Dad eats the mince pie and I drink the sherry!! Hehe. lots of love xxx

  8. I would love to be included in your giveaway.

Recent tradition for me is to make a new ornament each year for the tree. On the morning we wake up early (even at 25 and 23 me and the other half are still excited) We make some breakfast, usually a croissant and bucks fizz and sit and open the presents.

Every year without fail my Mum buys us all a bag of chocolate money, she always has done for as long as I remember, and it just wouldn't be Christmas without them now!

  9. What a lovely Giveaway! Please include me in. I've also posted your Giveaway on the sidebar of my blog.

Traditions have changed, as our daughter is all grown up and has a home of her own. But we still buy her a chocolate Advent Nativity Calendar. We used to have a knitted & felt Nativity Scene, which went up each year. A different character went up each day from the pocket at the bottom, which I also filled with sweets. Jesus always arrived on Christmas Day. We also go to the morning Christmas Service at Church. I just love singing all the lovely carols during the lead up to Christmas.

  10. I'd love to be included in your giveaway!
As for traditions, we have quite a few! I didn't realize just how much they meant to my teenage daughter until she went off to college and was heartbroken that we were even thinking about putting the Christmas tree up without her! It has always been her 'job' to put the angel on the top....so last year we had a tree all decorated and had to wait till Christmas eve when she came home so she could put the angel could put the angel on the top! It's going to be the same again this year! My son always has to put the candy canes in the tree and now that he's so much taller than his sister he teases her by placing them all near the top out of her reach...oh the fun and squabbles!

  12. This is the first year that my husband and I will be having a married Christmas :-) we haven't formed any traditions of our own yet but my mum and dad have Christmas breakfast fry-up and you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be carrying this one on!! Perhaps with the addition of some champagne…

  13. I'd love to be included in this! I'm known at work as tthe christmas elf because I love it so much :-) I've got loads of traditions but I think my favourite is ever since I was born I have had a christmas decoration each year in my stocking. It's always something with a special memory for me and my mam - perhaps somewhere we've been together that year or a good time we've shared. Even when I was all grown up and moved out my mam continued the tradition and now I have a lkittle tree that proudly displays all 32 very special decorations. Looking forward to adding number 33 on christmas day x

  14. As children, me and my brother would hang up our stockings on the end of our beds. "Santa" would fill them up and put an Annual by our beds too. We knew we weren't allowed to wake mum and dad before 5am (the meanies!!) so had to stay in one of our rooms, the Annuals were to provide us with some reading material!

We dont' have kids, but it's a tradition I would like to pass on. Me and hubby both discovered we had the same tradition when we moved in together, each year we always buy a new ornament each and one for his daughter, usually when we've been away somewhere, so the tree is full of memories.

  16. I just became a follower, because I saw the name of your blog and could not resist! I love stitching and putting together biscornus also! And we have another thing in common--the tradition of giving Christmas socks for all the girls in my family (big and little!). Yesterday my older sister showed me that she was wearing hers! I had forgotten I ever gave her some! But I have ones for everyone else this holiday season already--got to dash out and get one more! I also used to get my two daughters earrings, but that got difficult to keep track of, so it stopped. Now there are also three grands, so... forget about it! Please enter me in your giveaway--I cannot help wondering what 'makes' are! I am guessing it means something you crafted, but... I could be wrong! Love the internet and how it brings the whole world to your fingertips! Hugs!

    1. Hi Kerry *waves*

In our house, we always leave a present on the end of the girls' beds. We tell them that this is a special one that Father Christmas has left for them to open straight away and on condition that they are not allowed to get up too early!!

My Mum and Dad always used to leave a present on the end of my bed and I can still remember waking up in the middle of the night and feeling around in the dark to see if I could find it! Do you know what, I never did find it - but it was always there, on the end of the bed, in the morning!

  17. Would love to participate. I love Christmas, our tradition is to have a big family dinner at my parents on Christmas eve, open presents and go on to midnight mass. On Christmas day when things are quiet, I make my dad pierogis and we eat them all day long!

  18. Thanks for the giveaway! The Christmas tradition I'd like to share was much admired last year on my blog. In the top of my son's stocking Santa leaves a comic. My son is allowed to read this as soon as he wakes up on Christmas morning but mustn't come and wake us until he's finished it!!

My parents started this tradition for my siblings and me and I've carried it on! It's a great way for parents to get a few extra minutes in bed.

ps we have the Lego advent calendar too, the Star VVars one.

  19. Oooh....I am just in time, it is still the 7th for half an hour or so. When we were little a tradition we had was when we had Christmas at my Grandparents house in Cornwall (Was a Huge house) and quite often there would be at least 3 if not 4 generations. We would open stockings on my Grandparents bed and then get dressed/showered, have breakfast in the Kitchen and then and only then we would have to queue outside the living room door (which remained closed all morning) IN descending age order. It seems mean to me now, but the anticipation all morning was brilliant.
